What is the SBP-notified Zakat Nisab in Pakistan for 2026?

The Administrator General Zakat fixed the Nisab for Zakat Year 1446-47 AH at Rs 503,529. This is the threshold banks use on 1st Ramadan (19–20 February 2026, subject to moon sighting) to auto-deduct 2.5% Zakat from savings, PLS and similar accounts.

How to calculate Zakat in Pakistan 2026?

Add all Zakatable assets (cash, gold, silver, business inventory at market value, receivables). Subtract short-term debts due within 12 months. If net wealth equals or exceeds Nisab and has been held for a full lunar year (Hawl ≈ 354 days), Zakat = 2.5% of net wealth.

How much Zakat is deducted from bank accounts in Pakistan?

Banks in Pakistan deduct Zakat at 2.5% on the first day of Ramadan from savings, PLS and similar accounts whose balance equals or exceeds the notified Nisab (Rs 503,529 for 2026). The deducted amount is deposited into Central Zakat Account No. CZ-08 with the State Bank of Pakistan.

How do I stop my bank from deducting Zakat?

Submit a CZ-50 declaration to your bank before 1st Ramadan. This is a legally-binding statement under the Zakat & Ushr Ordinance, 1980 that you will pay Zakat yourself. After submission, the bank will not deduct Zakat at source that year.

Is Zakat payable on a house I live in?

No. A house you occupy for personal use is not Zakatable. Real estate becomes Zakatable only when it is held for trade or resale (e.g., a property dealer's stock). Personal-use property, primary residence, and personal-use vehicles are excluded.

What is Hawl in Zakat?

Hawl is the full Islamic lunar year (≈ 354 days) during which your wealth must remain at or above Nisab for Zakat to become obligatory. If your wealth drops below Nisab during the year and does not recover before Hawl completes, the year restarts once it returns above Nisab.

Which Nisab should I use — Government or silver/gold?

Use the Government Nisab (Rs 503,529) if you want to mirror what your bank deducts on 1st Ramadan. Many Hanafi scholars prefer the lower of gold-nisab or silver-nisab at live sarafa rates for personal Zakat payment — this captures more people as Zakat-eligible. Our calculator supports both.
